Loving Husband, Brother, Uncle, Son, and Friend
Michael L. Hill, 69, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. He was born on May 21, 1947, in Rockford, to parents, Frank L. and Doris M. (Sargent) Hill. He married the love of his life, Marilyn Maggio, in 1973 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Michael proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army. He worked for 35 years for the City of Rockford Water Department, where he met his wife. He loved cars, and was a talented guitar player, and shared a passion for music with his wife, Marilyn. Michael will always be remembered for his kind hearted nature and the love and care that he gave.
Michael is survived by his wife, Marilyn Hill; siblings, Steve (Luanne) Hill, and Mary (Steve) Kitzman of Beloit, Joanne (Jerry) Mackey, Philip (Kim) Maggio, Marcia Maggio, Tom (Dana) Maggio; nieces and nephews, Eric (Rachael) Hill, Brandy (Chad) Smith, Kelly (Neil) Klingensmith, Cindy Thompson, Jaclyn Thompson, Marie Kitzman, Philip (Kristin) Mackey, April Mackey, Amy (Dave Smith) Mackey, Catherine Sundeen, and Tyler Maggio; six grand nieces and nephews; and special cousin, Paul DiBenedetto. He is predeceased by his parents.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL, 61108; with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial and Military Honors immediately to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Hill Family.
