Michael D. Madden, 73
Rockford – Michael D. Madden, 73 passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014 in his home. Born March 27, 1941, in Rockford, the son of David and Winona (Rakstang) Madden. Graduated Rockford East High class of 1959. Married Naomi Tholen on August 10, 1968 in Pleasant Plains, IL. Michael worked for the US Postal Service for 30 years, retiring in 2003. Member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, YMCA Retired Men’s Club, and NARFE. Michael enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears; in addition he was an avid golfer and bowler. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his love for his family.
Survivors include wife Naomi; daughter Cynthia (Kennen) Cohen and Trish (Tom) Baik; grandsons Micah and Eli Cohen, and Elliot and William Baik; sisters Lois Diane Mair; special nieces Denise (John) Balsley and Kim (Hawk) Hawkinson. He is preceded in death by parents, son David R. Madden and two nieces.
Funeral service will be 11 am Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with a visitation an hour before service. In addition visitation will be 5- 7 pm Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory. 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, Il 61108. Burial in Willwood Burial Park.
