Michael Conway Wiedel, 74, of Rockford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2017. He was born in Oak Park, Illinois on October 11, 1942; son of Marshal and Jane (Dowdall) Wiedel. Michael was married to his loving wife, Patsy “Pati” Anderson in 1973 in Naperville. Michael was a 1966 graduate of Loyola University School of Law, and engaged in the general practice of law in Cook County. He acted as legal counsel for the Illinois Building Authority, served in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate Corps Reserve, was legal advisor to the National Police Bloodhound Association, a member of Cornwall Hounds in Elizabeth, IL, and has practiced law in Downers Grove, DuPage County for the last thirty plus years. Michael was instrumental in initiating and supporting the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Bloodhound Unit, providing training and support in their department. Michael was also a lifelong supporter of land conservation and a member of the Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation, as well as a longtime member of, Downers Grove, IL Rotary Club.
He is survived by his wife, Pati Wiedel of Rockford; children, Paul M. (Katharine Peters) Wiedel of Arden Hills, MN, Wendy (Terrence) Horan, of Lake Bluff, IL; granddaughter, Wilhelmina Jane Horan; sister, Jane F. Wiedel of Loves Park, IL. Michael is predeceased by his parents, and son, Peter Michael.
