Michael A. Cordonnier, 56, of Winnebago, IL was called home suddenly to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 15, 2022.
Mike (who was "kind of a Big Deal") was born in Rockford, IL on August 14, 1965 the son of Richard C. Cordonnier and Antoinette M. Trudeaux. He was a man of God who made it his mission to spread the good news of Jesus Christ any chance he got. He took great pleasure in ministering to the broken and helping them heal and he befriended almost everyone he met. Mike worked as the Service Manager for Ingersoll Milling Machine Company for 35 years, retiring in January 2021. He was a volunteer of Win-Bur-Sew Fire Department in Winnebago, IL for many years. He worked at Meridian Nursery during the rest of 2021 where he enjoyed the change of pace, working outdoors, and helping people from his community.
Mike's favorite past time was spending time at Plum Lake in Sayner, WI. That was his paradise away from home, other than Heaven now. That is where his ashes will be spread to rest. Some of Mike's favorite hobbies included spending time in his pool with family and friends, his love of music and singing, fishing with his best friends on Plum Lake, listening to bands with Shelley, cooking for others (especially Thanksgiving dinner), sitting on the porch with Shelley and Gary till the wee hours of the night, watching his grandkids grow up and bragging about his kids accomplishments.
"I'm not here for a long time, but I'm here for a good time."
Mike is survived by his step-mom, Katherine Cordonnier; wife, Shelley Cordonnier; son, Matthew (Stephanie) Cordonnier; daughters, Sarah (Ryley) Lott and Jessica (Philip) Sperling; step-son, Justin Marian; brothers, Andrew (Gretchen) Cordonnier and Richard (Tracy) Cordonnier; ex-wife, Deborah (Derek) Dill; cousin, Yvonne Trudeaux; grandchildren, Samantha and Gabriel Cordonnier, Paisley Cordonnier and Brixon Lott, Hunter and Elsie Sperling; nephews, Nicholas, Joel and Samson Cordonnier, Evan Helmer, Will and Rylan Peacock; nieces, Avery Walker and Brielle Taylor Scudder; honorary niece, Stella Cook; beloved dogs, Tia and Chloe as well as the many friends who Mike considered to be family. Mike is predeceased by his parents, Richard Cordonnier and Antoinette Trudeaux.
