Melvyn J. YurgilFormerly of Schaumburg Melvyn J. Yurgil, 77, formerly of Schaumburg, went to be with the Lord on November 13, 2009. Melvyn was born July 4, 1932 in Cicero, IL the son of John and Betty (Gropstas) Yurgil. Melvyn married Constance "Connie" Feuersthaler on October 27, 1962 in Milwaukee, WI. Melvyn graduated from J Sterling Morton East High School in Cicero, and Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Tulsa, OK. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and worked as an aircraft inspector for United airlines for almost 40 years until retiring in August 2000. Melvyn was a member of Our Redeemers United Methodist Church, International Aeronautical Machinist Association, Schaumburg Athletic Association, Hoffman Estates Athletic Association, coached soccer for both Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates, and was the Order of the Arrow Chapter Advisor and Assistant Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a gunsmith, model builder, oil artist, and loved fishing. Melvyn is survived by his wife, Connie; children, Bradley (Leslie), David, and Garrick (Erika) Yurgil; grandchildren, Amber, Hunter, and Evan, and many nieces and nephews. Melvyn was predeceased by his parents, and brothers, Kenneth and Gilbert Yurgil. A memorial service for Melvyn will be celebrated on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 3 p.m. at Our Redeemers United Methodist Church, 1600 W. Schaumburg Rd., with Rev. Bill Shaw officiating. Burial will be private. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1114 N.
