Melvin H. Hines

Melvin H. Bud Hines, 90, Belvidere, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2012, at Fairview Nursing Plaza.nbsp; He was born August 30, 1921, in Capron, the son of Harry and Raemore (Jensen) Hines.nbsp; Bud married Neva Laura Sellers in Belvidere on September 9, 1945, six days after he returned home from WWII. Bud served in the Army attaining the rank of Staffnbsp; Sergeant. He was in the 325 th fighter group serving in North Africa and Italy where his group was awarded many citations. He worked with his father at Hines Dicasting before becoming an electrician and working for Johannes and McLain and then for Cam Car until he retired in 1985.nbsp; Bud was a longtime member and Past Commander in 1957, of Belvidere VFW Post No.1461, Lions Club, Belvidere Moose Club and the American Legion. During his retirement, Bud was an avid historian and he donated his wonderful collection of Belvideres history to the Historical Society where it is displayed.nbsp; He also studied the geneology of his family.

Survived by his wife of 67 years, Neva; his daughters, Sherry Cuccinelli of Rockford and Joyce Dwyer of Las Vegas; grandson, Thomas Steurer and granddaughter, Nicole Brumback; greatgrandchildren, Zachary and Kaiden Steurer; and nephew, Jim Clark; many nieces and nephews including special niece and nephew, Charles and Judy Byers of Belvidere. Predeceased by his parents, his son Michael, 1980; his sister and brotherinlaw, Harriett and Gene Clark.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 PM, Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Rev. Dean Parker officiating.
