Melissa K. Spades-Fildes

Melissa K. Spades-Fildes, 48, of Loves Park, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017; with her family at her side. She was born on March 11, 1969 in Rockford to Richard and Shirley Spades. Melissa had a lifelong struggle with diabetes from the age of 18 months old before she went to be with the Lord. She was married to the father of her children and good family friend, Paul Fildes and married again to husband Karl Bender before his passing in 2012. Melissa had a heart of gold, and would always put everyone else first. She was a people pleaser and showed her love and generosity by cooking for family and friends. Melissa attended Heartland Community Church. She was a loving mother, daughter, aunt, sister and friend, and we will love her always. Melissa’s family would like to send a sincere thank you to the staff of Agrace Hospice in Janesville for all of their loving kindness.

Melissa is survived by her children, Morgyn Fildes and Joshua Fildes; grandsons, Jaiylen and Raidyn Fildes; boyfriend, Brad Jones; mother, Shirley (Rick Bruckner) Spades; brothers, Rick (Sara Graber) Spades and Darin (Cheryl) Spades; and nieces, Alesha Grafstrom, Brooklyn Spades, and Britain Spades.
She is predeceased by her husband Karl; her father, Richard Spades; paternal grandparents, Sebastian and Lorene Spades; and maternal grandparents, Don and Freda Beaird.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL, 61108 with Pastor Kenneth Hendley officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Melissa’s honor to the benefit of her children and grandchildren.
