Melendre Aquino, 68, Cherry Valley, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013, in her home. She was born May 30, 1945, in the Philippines, the daughter of Valeriano and Presentacion (Orduna) Dulay. She married Joaquin E. Aquino on April 26, 1969, in the Philippines. Melendre was a teacher and a school principal in the Philippines before coming to America. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church.
Survived by her husband, Joaquin; her daughters, Arlene (Dr. Edgardo) Reyes of Cherry Valley, Alice (Arnel) Gutierrez of Chicago, Armi (Jared) Hoffman of Kenosha, WI, and Dr. Adrienne (Dr. Titus) Estrada of the Philippines; 5 grandchildren; 4 sisters, Rellieta Paez, Nora Ocampo, Generosa Malabanan, and Vivien Dulay, all of Manila, Philippines. Predeceased by her parents and her brother, Rolando Dulay.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon, Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr. Rockford, wit Reverend John Evans officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation from 10:00 am until 11:45 am on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford.
