Maxwell D. Aumann, 24, of Rockford, passed away December 19, 2016 at University of Wisconsin Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Max was born April 9, 1992 in Tampa, FL, the son of Vince & Sarah (MacDonald) Aumann. He graduated from East High School, class of 2010.
Max was a generous and loving husband, son, father, brother, and friend. He was certain when he found the love of his life; he married Hollee Schallmoser on December 7, 2010, less than a year after meeting her. He was devoted to caring for Hollee and their two daughters, Damona and Kaylee Ginny. Even while in the hospital, he arranged for an anniversary gift of flowers and chocolate to be delivered to Hollee. As a child, he gave his mom sweet notes and illustrations; as a brother, he gave his siblings meaningful gifts and tips for winning video games. Though he could mingle with the best of them, he would freely open up his house and give his time and wisdom to a friend in need.
Just as much as he had a heart of gold, Max was every bit a tough guy. He grew up playing football, and he studied Krav Maga at Elite Defense Systems for the last couple years. He would spontaneously do push-ups in the living room and show off his bicep muscles to everyone who didn’t ask.
Max was playful and loved trying to rile people up. He play-fought anyone from his brother to his daughter. He constantly teased his family and friends, and when he was paired with his brother Arthur, the banter never ceased. He claimed he didn’t like sugar, but he would turn around and eat half a pan of brownies and then blame it on the dog. When Max focused on something, he mastered it—whether that was replacing the transmission in his dad’s car or achieving high scores in his favorite video games. He also worked hard as a manager at Sam’s Club. Most of all, Max worked hardest at providing for and loving his family.
Survivors include wife Hollee; daughters Damona and Kaylee Ginny; parents Vince and Sarah Aumann; sisters Leah (Keith) English, Sara, and Ginny Aumann; brothers Raymond and Vince Aumann; grandma Jan Aumann; mother-in-law Deborah Schallmoser; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by brother Arthur; grandfathers Raymond Aumann and Rod MacDonald.
