Max Winger

Max Winger, 71, of Rockford passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 at OSF St. Anthony. Born March 15, 1943 to Max N. Winger and Bonnie V. Reese. Max married Peggy McCormick in June of 1970 in Des Moines, Iowa. Max was a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, Jimmie Johnson #48 being his favorite driver. Max was also a Bears and Cubs fan, he was Mayor of the
Nursing Home and enjoyed listening to country music.
Survivors include son, Tim Winger; sister, Rita (Lanny) Banker; Cousins and personal caretakers, Jill and Wendy Winger; two nieces and a family of cousins and 7 grandchildren. Predeceased by wife, Peggy, parents, and brother, Claire.
Services will be at 11 am Monday, January 5, 2015, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, Illinois 61108. Visitation will be from 9:30 until the time of service on Monday. Burial will be held at New Milford Cemetery in Rockford. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
