Maureen Rose Woods-Widmer, 50, of Machesney Park, passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, Dec. 7, 2015 at approximately 10 a.m. after her courageous fight against bladder cancer, that was diagnosed 2 short years ago. Born October 13, 1965 in Seward, the daughter of Richard and Colleen (Murphy) Woods. Graduated from Winnebago High School in 1983 and married her loving husband, Randall Widmer. She was employed in the food service industry for 29 years of her life. Maureen was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Loves Park. She enjoyed spending time with her two children that she always said were her and her husband, Randy’s, best achievements. She enjoyed her animals and you would never find her without one, she also loved to do word searches.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Randall Widmer; son, Lee Widmer and daughter Miranda Widmer all of Machesney Park; brothers, Richard (Tari) Woods of Seward and Lawrence (Dana) Woods of Winnebago; several nieces and one great nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Public visitation Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel 3910 N. Rockton Ave. from 5-7 p.m. with a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. A private Mass will be held on Friday and burial will be in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, Seward.
