Matthew P. Rotello, 53,
Rockford-Matthew P. Rotello, 53, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Swedish American Hospital with family by his side. Born April 18, 1963 in Rockford, the son of Joseph & Mary Ann (Costello) Rotello, he lived most of his life in Rockford. Matt graduated from West High School, class of 1981, and received an Associate’s Degree from Rock Valley Community College.
Matthew was an artist and musician at heart. Although he put aside his art work several years ago, he still enjoyed playing guitar with his friends and loved many types of music, especially Classic Rock & Roll, and Blues. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes as was studying history, especially the Civil War and Ancient Egypt. He was staunch fan of the Green Bay Packers. What he loved most of all was sharing his sense of humor and making people laugh. He will be truly missed.
Survivors include mother Mary Ann Rotello; brother Stephen (Dora) Rotello; sisters Maria, Veronica, and Rosanne Rotello, and Anita (Joe) Ratterman; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father Joseph.
A memorial service celebrating his life will take place from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL, 61108. It will include a prayer service starting at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Rock River Valley Pantry in his name would be appreciated.
