Matthew "Matt" Paul Spinello, Jr.

Matthew “Matt” P. Spinello, Jr., 67, Rockford, passed away Monday, December 13, 2021, at SwedishAmerican Hospital. He was born February 3, 1954, in Rockford, the son of Matt P. and Mary Margaret “Peggy” (Ploger) Spinello. Matt was a graduate of Rockford West High School, class of 1972. During his younger years he worked as a video camera operator and then became a locksmith in the family business. Matt then worked as the flight line manager for Emery Air at the Greater Chicago-Rockford International Airport until his retirement. After his retirement he worked at O’Reilly Auto Parts. He was an avid NASCAR fan.
Survived by his daughter, Cortney Rose; his grandchildren, Kaiden Spinello, Johnny Pederson, Matthew Cimino, and Oliver Rodriguez; brothers, Joe "Jose" Spinello and John (Barb) Spinello; his sisters, Michele (Austin) Crowder and Megan Spinello; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and his sister, Patti Dickson.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Reverend David Petty officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until time of service. Cremation rites have been accorded. Everyone is invited to a time of fellowship at the Lombardi Club, 209 Olive St. Rockford from 4:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. on Saturday. Share online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
