Mateo Phenix Alvares

Mateo Phenix Alvares was born on Friday, December 14th 2018 at 7:44 am, to his loving mother Vanessa Flores-Alvares at Mercy Health Hospital Rockford Illinois. He weighed 1 pound 6 ounces and was 11 1/2 inches long.
Our Family was blessed to have him here on earth for 22, short but oh so precious, days before he went to his heavenly home all while being cradled in the loving arms of his mother.

Mateo experienced the loving touch of many close family, friends and medical staff in the final hours of his life. He heard every single I love you. He heard through song that Jesus loves him and that he is his Grandma's sunshine.
Mateo Phenix, you are so deeply loved by your mommy Vanessa; your grandparents, Nestor and Veronica Alvares, Juan M Pulido and Sylvia Oviedo; great grandparents, Julian Alvares and Tereza Mendoza, Patrick and Cheryl Gourley and Aureliano Flores; Aunts and Uncles, Robert Flores, Samuel Flores, Makhi Flores, Julian Alvares, Artemio Flores-Alvarez, Nazadia Flores-Alvares, Elianna Flores-Alvares, Andel and Yara; Great Aunt and Uncles, Carlos Flores, Todd and Kristina Orr, Elizabeth Flores and Joe Soto, Nicholas and Tami Amdal, Aleatha Townsend, Rosaleana Jackson, Francisco Townsend, Casey Barker and Richard Zambrano, Juan and Tonya Alvarez , Jessica Delgado. You are also so deeply loved by a host of cousins, great cousin and so many friends, whose lives you have touched by coming into this world.

Our family would like to thank The Haven for coming and helping us make memories, the Mercy Health Chaplain office, Mercy Health NICU staff, Dr. Hernandez, Yoshe and Nikki for the incredible care you gave our Mateo and our host of family and friends.

Also, thank you to Rev. Richard Warner and the Mercy Health Chaplains for praying for Mateo and his family through this all. "For this Child we prayed".

Memorial and lunch to be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Eagle’s Club, 3829 11th St, Rockford, IL 61109. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Service will be 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with Rev Richard Warner. Lunch from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Cremation rites accorded with Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory.
