Mary Theresa Cieliesz Smith

Mary Theresa Cieliesz Smith, 86, lifelong Rockford resident, died at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2010 in Alpine Fireside Health Center. Born August 31, 1923.  Employed by National Lock as an inspector for over 30 years.  Mary grew up during the depression and was a quiet, uncomplicated woman.  She was intelligent and always continued to keep up on current events. Following retirement she received a great deal of enjoyment from playing bingo. Survivors include her children, Dr. Deanna (Dr. John) Gordon, Columbus, OH, Mary Ann (Frank) Manzullo, New Milford, Jeffery (Jodi) Smith, New Milford and Thomas Smith, Dubuque, IA; grandchildren Dr. Amanda (Jeff Sczpanski) Gordon, Juliette (Joe) Peppercorn, Andrew Gordon, Mary Catherine (Brian) Flynn, Frank Manzullo III, Courtney Smith and Ashley Smith; 5 great grandchildren; a niece and a nephew.  Predeceased by her husband, George Gagnon; parents, Marianna Siewiorek Cieliesz and Anthony Cieliesz; sisters, Elizabeth Krochmalski and Helen Cieliesz and 3 brothers. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Rev. Piotr Sarnicki officiating.  Burial in New Milford Cemetery.  Visitation from 12:30 p.m. until time of the Mass at the church on Saturday.  Arrangements were completed by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S.
