Mary Mangiaracina

Mary K. “Mickey” Mangiaracina, 75, of Rockford passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 in her home surrounded by her family. Born November 14, 1940, the daughter of John T. and Mary V. McCarty. Mickey graduated from Rockford East High School. She married Nicholas Mangiaracina on October 22, 1960 in Rockford. She retired from Sunstrand in 1999 after 25 years. Mickey was a member of the Cathedral of St. Peter. She was known for taking her friends in as family and was a good sounding board as she always knew the right words to fix things. She loved cooking and never missed making corned beef on St. Patrick’s Day and Italian beef sandwiches on New Year’s Eve for Swilligans and the Rue Marche, her son’s bars.
Lovingly survived by her husband of 55 years, Nicholas; children, Paul Mangiaracina of Rockford, Kathy (Patrick) Seger of Rockton and Kris (Keith Jensen) Mangiaracina of Madison, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Sean, Nicholas, Rachel, Emily, Olivia, Dylan, Kennedy, Sean and Isabelle. Predeceased by her parents and son, Michael Mangiaracina.
Funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Cathedral of St. Peter. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established in Mary’s name at a later date. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, assisted the family.
