Mary Lou Weickert, 83
Rockford- Mary Lou Weickert, 83, passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, July 26, 2015. Mary Lou was born August 12, 1931, in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of Samuel H. & Anastasia (Donovan) Cheney. She graduated with her BS in Education from Ball State, specializing in teaching the hearing impaired. She taught several years before being married in 1958 and raising six children starting in 1959. She was a member of the Cathedral of Saint Peter since moving to Rockford in 1959. Mary Lou enjoyed quilting, her friends, her cats and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include sons Michael Weickert, George Weickert and Chris Weickert, daughters Margaret Weickert Soliz and Mary Brown, 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and her two beloved brothers Sam and Jim Cheney. She was predeceased by her infant son Dennis in 1972.
Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2015 at the Cathedral of Saint Peter. Visitation will be Thursday night, July 30, from 5-7 pm with a Rosary to follow at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N.
