Mary Kortendick

Mary Kortendick, 91, a resident of Wesley Willows in Rockford, passed away on Thursday, June 25th, 2015.
Mary was born on May 27th, 1924, to Stephen and Josephine (Kusick) Odorski, graduated from West High School and lived in Rockford all of her life. On June 16th, 1951, Mary married John Kortendick, of Pecatonica, Illinois. Mary and John raised their children Steve, Tom, Mike and Kathy across from St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church and School.
Mary is survived by her children and grandchildren: Fr. Steve Kortendick, Pardeeville, WI; Tom (Marilyn) Kortendick, Barrington Hills, IL; Mike (Joanne) Kortendick, Evergreen, CO; Katherine (Jeff) Thorsteinson, Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren, Patrick (Lisa), Christopher and Nicholas Kortendick, and Gregory, Daniel and Matthew Thorsteinson; and nieces, Mary McMillan, Nancy Wiora, and Martha Burke.
Mary was pre-deceased by her husband of 58 years, John; her brother, John Odorski; her sisters, Helen Odorski, Rose Odorski and Clara Close; sisters-in-law, Bernice Kortendick, Rita Brinkman and her husband, George Brinkman; brother in-law, Tom Close; nephew John William Odorski, Jr., and her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 30th, 2015 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2300 Bell Ave, Rockford, IL, with visitation at Church one hour prior to Mass. Burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Pecatonica. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, on Monday, June 29, 2015, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 North Rockton Avenue, Rockford, IL. Memorial donations may be made to St. Bernadette Catholic Church or Boylan Central Catholic High School.
