Mary Joan Edwards

Mary Joan (Ettel) Pearson Edwards, 86 of Rockton passed away on November 12, 2009 in her residence, Highview in the Woodlands. Born December 28, 1922 in Creston, Illinois, the daughter of Charley and Nina (Clark) Ettel. Graduated from Oswego Community High School in 1940. Married Walter L. Pearson on September 10, 1944. He passed away on June 28, 1986. Married Ward L. Edwards on October 3, 1987. He passed away on July 21, 2009. Member of Grace United Methodist Church in Rockford. Survivors include step-son Doug, step-daughter-in-law Mary L., step-grandchildren Jeff (Cyndee), Greg (Cathy), Stephanie (Brandon Leard), Mindy (Tom) Clark, Todd and Andrea. Step-great-grandchildren Brittany, Josh, Kasia, Braely, Megan, Kirsten, Autumn and nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents, brother Charles, sister Margaret, husbands Walt and Ward, and step-son Dick. We would like to give special thanks to Transitions Hospice and the entire staff at the Highview in the Woodlands for the care they provided to Mary. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Aslesen officiating.
