Mary J. Green

Mary J. Green, 75, Rockford, died at 9:00 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at Medina Manor in Durand. Born August 27, 1934 in LaFarge, WI, daughter of Edward R. and Fernie F. Slagle Turner. Graduated from LaFarge High School in 1952 and married Orvis M. Green on September 5, 1952. Member of Christ United Methodist Church. Mary lovingly took care of hundreds of children during the 25 years that she was employed as a head cook for the Rockford Public School System. She had a loving, nurturing heart and cared deeply about everybody. Mary was very proud of her family and she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was also a huge Chicago Bulls fan. Survivors include her husband, Orvis; son, Kelly (Carmen Proctor) Green, Monroe, WI; daughter, Jeannette (Manuel Castaneda) Bloyer, Durand; grandchildren, Amanda Green, Elizabeth (Steve) Rud, Teresa Green, Vannesa Green, Jake Bloyer and Mary Bloyer; sisters, Betty (Floyd ) McElhose, LaFarge, WI and Jeanne Zietlow, Waupaca, WI; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents; brothers, Cecil Turner, Burl Turner, Bill Turner and Russell Turner and sister, Beulah Hagemann. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 15, 2010 in Our Masters United Methodist Church, 5973 Darlene Dr. with Rev. Laura Barkley officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Goldie B. Floberg Center.
