Mary G. Karty

Mary G. Karty, 78, Rockford, died at 8:26 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2007 in her home. Born May 18, 1929 in Freeport, daughter of Harold and Magdalen (Scheidt) ORourke. Graduated from St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago as a registered nurse. Married William Karty in Freeport on September 13. 1952. Rockford resident since 1964. She was employed at Freeport Memorial Hospital and as an Industrial Nurse for Microswitch Corp. She also worked at Rockford Memorial Hospital and retired from Commonwealth Edison as an Industrial Nurse after 22 years. Member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and North Suburban Womans Club. Mary always saw the good in everybody and thought of everybody else before herself. Survivors include her husband Bill; daughters, Susan Ann (William) Estes, Belvidere and Kathleen Joan (Scott) Kreitman, Portland, OR; grandchildren, Briana Kathleen Estes; niece, Debbie Sellers; nephews, Michael ORourke, Danny ORourke and John ORourke. Predeceased by her parents and her brother, Jack ORourke. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She will live in our hearts forever. Funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2007 in St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel Peters officiating. Entombment in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
