Mary Francis Keehnen

Loving Mother and GrandmotherMary Francis Owens Keehnen 86 of Rockford passed away Saturday October 16, 2010 in OSF St Anthony Medical Center. Mary was born July 24, 1924 in Rockford. She was the daughter of Daniel and Genevieve Owens. Mary graduated from Pecatonica High School and Northern Illinois University. She married Wilbert Keehnen on February 7, 1948 in Pecatonica. Wilbert predeceased her on April 25, 1993. Mary was an elementary school teacher. She was employed by the Rockford Public Schools for over 3 decades and taught at Franklin, Barbour, Welsh and Macintosh schools. Survivors include her four children; Peter (Kay) of Reno, NV, Ann (Joel) Taylor of Rockford, Patrick (Paulette) of Rockford and Owen (Carl Blando) of Chicago. Grandchildren; Erin (Don Berry) Taylor, Patrick Taylor, Megan Taylor and Daniel Keehnen. Great grandchildren; Eliza and Ruby Taylor-Berry. Sister; Catherine (Merv) Shomler of Wisconsin. Numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents and husband. A special thanks to her caregivers for their attention and compassion, especially those at Independence Village. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10am Thursday October 21, 2010 in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial in St Mary Cemetery, Pecatonica. Memorials to your choice of Hospices.
