Mary Frances Parry, 86
Rockford - Mary Frances Parry went home to Heaven on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016. She was born in Chicago, Il. on Feb. 24, 1930, the daughter of August F. Roller and Frances (Stoeckel) Roller. She graduated from Little Company of Mary School of Nursing in 1951. Mary started her nursing career with the VNA in Chicago. She also worked in other nursing capacities over the years at St. Anthony Hospital, River Bluff Nursing Home, with DCFS, and the ATEP unit at RMH. She married Edward J Parry on May 16, 1953. Most of her life was spent as a Homemaker. While raising their 5 children, Mary and Ed also provided a warm, nurturing temporary home to 26 foster children. Mary enjoyed many hobbies including knitting, baking, restoring antique furniture, and playing the harmonica. Mary also enjoyed serving in various ministries at her church. She was a friend of Bill W. for 33 years. Mary is survived by her children Mary (Ron) McGregor, John (Susan) Parry, Jeanne (Daniel) Smith, Paul (Donna) Parry, and Paty d'Angelo (special friend, Eric Ohlson), 13 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Wed. March 2, 2016 at St. James Catholic Church 428 No. 2nd Street Rockford, IL. Visitation will be Tues. March 1st, 2016 from 5-7 PM at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel,1860 So. Mulford Rd., and from 9:00 AM until time of Mass at the church on Wed.
