Mary Ellen Severing-Hinkel

Mary Ellen Severing-Hinkel died on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Rockford Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Pecatonica in 1925; the daughter of Oscar and nbsp;Mary (Boyer) Johnson. Married Charles E. Severing in 1942 and together they raised 7 children, he died in 1983. nbsp;Mary was co-founder of the Mr. and Mrs. Club and a Youth Fellowhship Leader at Beth Eden United Methodist Church where she was charter member. She married Leland Hinkel in 1984. She enriched the lives of those who knew and loved her with joy, compassion and her unwavering positive embracement of life. Were thankful to have had her in our lives. Survivors include her husband, Leland; children, Richard (Marie), Ken (Jennifer), Jerry (Jane), Steve, Salli Severing Ratts (Jim), Sue Daggett (Chuck), David (Sue step-children, Art (Helene), Phil (Cathy), LeeAnn (John) and Lynn; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Rose Blackwell (Dwayne) and sister-in-law, Lois Johnson. Predeceased by her parents and brothers, Elmer and Walter Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2008 at Beth Eden United Methodist Church, 3201 Huffman Blvd. Rockford, IL with Pastor Phil Burke, Jr. officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation to be held from 3-5pm Sunday March 2 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Avenue, Rockford, ILnbsp; 61103.
