Mary "Colette" Carlson Mary "Colette" Carlson, 83, of Belvidere, and a former 75 year resident of Cherry Valley, went to be with the Lord on January 20, 2010 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Colette was born November 10, 1926 in Rockford the daughter of William and Margaret (Flynn) Corcoran. Colette married Robert J. "Bob" Carlson on April 15, 1945 in Rockford. Colette graduated from East High School in 1944 and worked in inventory control at Fishers Appliance for many years. She was associated with Cherry Valley Township for 35 years beginning as a clerk and then serving on the Cherry Valley Township Board of Trustees. Colette was devoted to her family, community, St. Rita Catholic Church, and was a devout Catholic. She loved traveling, and preparing for and spending the holidays with her family. Colette is survived by her husband, Bob; children, Jan Simone, Diane Wolff, Bobbi (Gary) Scalora, and Peggy Kaczmarek; Grandchildren, Mike (Michelle) Simone, Nicholas Wolff, Brian Scalora, Cathy Scalora, Liz Kaczmarek, and Lauren Kaczmarek; Great-grandchildren, Isaac and Aidan Simone, and several special friends. Colette was predeceased by her parents. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Drive, Rockford. Burial in St. Mary/St. James Cemetery will be private. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. 10:45 A.M. at the church.
