Mary C. Taylor

Mary C. Taylor, 85, of Rockford, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015. Born on March 2, 1929, in Marshfield, WI, to Reuben and Joyce (Hatteberg) Connor, Mary was married to Eugene C. Taylor on August 12, 1950 in Auburndale, WI. Mary was a dedicated teacher for 20 years at Haskell Elementary School in Rockford. She shared her love of literature, science and nature. Her students, children and grandchildren will always remember the butterflies that she raised in the classroom and at home. Mary and Eugene enjoyed taking nature walks at Rock Cut State Park. Mary is survived by her children, Craig (Kari Wyatt) Taylor, Jean (Michael) Martin, John (Rachel) Taylor, Amy (Anthony) Schelich, Susan (Charles) Blose and Mark (Nicole) Taylor; sisters, Joyce (William) Bethke and Sarah Connor; sisters-in-law, Joyce Guensburg and Iris House; grandchildren, Andrew Taylor, Allison Taylor, Michael (Courtney) Martin, Rebecca (Simon) Hart, David Taylor, Melissa Taylor, Jessica Schelich, Angela (Robert) Lupole, Kiel Schelich, Ian Schelich, Bridgett Blose, Katrina Blose, Noah Naiditch and Dean Taylor; great grand children, Aidan Martin, Declan Martin, Lucy Moon, Ruby Hart and Charlotte Lupole; and numerous nieces and nephews, especially Tim McGuire. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Gene McGuire, Rebecca Gilson, Roger Connor and Craig Connor. A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 pm, Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL 61103 with Pastor Dan Herman officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until the time of service on Wednesday. Memorials may be made in Mary's honor to Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens: Butterfly Exhibit, 1354 N.
