Mary Ann (FitzGerald) Schneeberger, 91, of Rockford, passed away on February 11, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born on December 2, 1931 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of John Watson and Mary Catherine (McMahon) FitzGerald. Mary Ann graduated from Holy Angels Academy in 1949. She married Leonard J. Schneeberger Jr. on January 13, 1951. She worked at Sundstrand for 10 years and as a real estate broker for 7 years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Catholic Women’s League. Mary Ann was an active volunteer at church and St. Anne’s Nursing Home. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Steven “Steve” (Gina) Schneeberger, Jeffrey “Jeff” (Brenda) Schneeberger, Mary Kay (Steve) Merema, Alicia “Lissa” (Wiesiek) Lazarz, Maggie (John) Vant; daughter in law Barb; grandchildren, Leonard Schneeberger IV, Jessica (Doug) Adams, Jeffrey Schneeberger, Michael (Samantha) Schneeberger, David (Christen) Schneeberger, Steven (Rachel) Merema, Gregory Merema, Lexi Vant, and Megan Vant; and 13 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents; son, Leonard III; daughter, Teresa “Terri”; brothers, Robert M., John W., and Edward J. FitzGerald; and nephew, Sean FitzGerald.
A memorial visitation will be on Friday, February 17, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Road Rockford, IL 61107. A funeral mass will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anne Place, 4405 Highcrest Road Rockford, IL 61107.
