Mary Ann McCord, 84, of Rockford, died Sunday, May 1, 2016 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born January 15, 1932 in Dubuque, Iowa, moved and grew up in Freeport. Married her husband, Bob McCord on January 31, 1959.She worked for National Lock on the assembly line and as a Union Steward, retiring after 31 years.
Some of Mary Ann’s favorite pastimes included crocheting, the art of the jig saw puzzle and word and number search books. She was also an avid sports/entertainment fan. Everything from College basketball to her favorite TV show “Dancing with the Stars”
However much of her time was devoted to her cherished shih-poo puppy, Buffy. “The Kid” as she called him was always by her side. We are all better people for knowing her.
She is survived by her step children, Bob (Ann) McCord and Patricia Lynch; step grandchildren, Sara , Rachel and Amanda and special friends, Elaine Score, Dean & Beth Hendrickson and their family, and friend and hair dresser Judy Alsbury. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob.
Funeral service Friday, May 6 at 11 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with visitation from 9:30 – 11 a.m. Interment in Belvidere City Cemetery. Express online condolence at: www.fitzgeraldfh.com
