Mary Ann Grimes, 91 of Rockford, IL, left this world to the embrace of her Savior Jesus Christ Friday afternoon, November 2, 2018 at Presence St. Anne Center due to natural causes.
Born December 1, 1926 in Charleston, IL, daughter of Clyde K. Gillespie and Lela G. (Hill) Gillespie. Mary Ann graduated Charleston High School in 1945 where she met and dated her Sweetheart and future husband. She married Robert E. Grimes June 15th, 1947 in Loxa, IL and they celebrated 50 years of marriage together.
Mary Ann’s desire was to be a missionary, planted in her heart as a young girl, she carried this out in the incredible example of her servant’s heart beginning with her Love for God, devotion to her family & honor to her Husband in his pastoral ministry. A woman of Proverbs 31 of wisdom, patience, toil and encouraging words, her incredible joyous presence yet humbleness never putting herself first radiated thru her household.
Survived by children, Randall (Marlene) Grimes, Andy (Becky) Grimes, Dan (Nancy) Grimes, Robin W.Grimes and Lea Ann (Carl) Carter. Also GiGi’s joys and blessings; 13 precious grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; special nieces and friends.
Mary Ann was predeceased by her husband in January 1998.
Celebration of Life 3 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd, Rockford, IL. Visitation 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial 12 noon Monday, November 12, 2018 in Arcola Township Cemetery, Arcola IL.
