Mary Ann lived her life taking care of people. After completing nurses training, she worked as a nurse for over 30 years at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Mary Ann worked in many areas and became a Nurse Manager, most recently as Manager of the Emergency Room. Mary Ann was an ""Auntie,"" sister, and friend to many. She was admired for her zest for life. For Mary Ann life was an adventure filled with many trips. For many years she was a competitive softball player and coach. She believed in living life by looking at the positives. Mary Ann enjoyed watching and going to Cubs and Packers games. She is survived by Kathy Adkins, best friend and caregiver; siblings , Bryce (Amanda) of Wimberley, TX; Carol (Dan) Sand of Decorah, IA, Pamela (Jeff) Jaworowski of Rockton Robert (Margie) of Ivory Coast, Africa; niece and nephews, Lindsey and Ryan Leombruni, Andrew Engelhart, Erik and Karl Sand, Will, Jake, Duncan and Ty; uncles Charles (Joy) Engelhart, Danny Haydon, Jack (Janice) Haydon, Dick Haydon and aunt, Verna Vogel and special friends Phil (Jan) Adkins and Shon Adkins. Preceded in death by her parents and niece Amy Engelhart. Mary Ann believed in living, loving, and laughing. She was a strong person that spent more time caring about the welfare of others than she did about herself. Mary Ann will be sorely missed by many now and in the years to come. She brought comfort to our lives as the following people brought comfort to her life: family, friends, Dr. William Edwards, Jeanne Oelerich, and the ACT team.
