Rockford-Marvin M. Kasnick, 85 passed away Tuesday, June 9,2009 at his home. Born on May 18, 1924 to Charles and Martha Kasnick and married to Phyllis A. Jansen on October 10, 1948 inDavenport, Iowa.Rockford became their home along with their six children in 1962. He was a WWII veteran and a member of the 95 th Infantry and Iron Men of Metz. He was on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day and two highlights of his life were returning to France and traveling to the WWII monument inWashington D.C. as a participant of the Honor Flight. Marvin was known for the colorful stories he loved to tell about his past which also served him well in his career as a salesman for Joseph Behr Paper ofRockford and later Chamber and Owens of Janesville, Wi. He was an avid Indy 500 race fan and spent the winter months enjoying the warm, ocean breezes ofPerdido Key, Florida. He will be missed terribly by his children, grandchildren, and friends. Survivors include Son, Charles(Trudy) Kasnick of Rockford; daughters, Martha Glenn of Bicknell, Ind., Mary Brown ofSt. Joseph, Mich., Susan Portenkirchner of Bensenville, Anne (Pat) Richardson of Rockford; grandchildren, Shelley, Carley, Matt, James, Kimberly, Ryan, Jillian, Andy, Max, and Jake.nbsp; Predeceased by his parents, wife Phyllis, son, Marvin Bradley Kasnick, son-in-law Stephen R. Glenn.nbsp; Funeral services will be held at 7:00pm Monday June 15 th nbsp;at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory (Mulford Chapel) 1860 South Mulford Road.nbsp; Visitation will be at 5:00 p.m. until time of service.
