Marvetta L. Ellenberger, 81, of Loves Park, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016. She was born on September 15, 1935 in Monroe, WI, the daughter of Marvin and Dorothy (Trotter) Stauffacher. She proudly served in the United States Marine Corp as a driver. For many years she worked as a mental health technician at H Douglas Singer Mental Health Center, where she devoted her life to caring for others. She was a selfless and patient woman, stemming from raising three boys. She was a wonderful mother, and grandmother, always putting her family first.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin O’Dell and Steven Ellenberger; her grandchildren, Stephanie O’Dell, Alex O’Dell, Nick Jansen, Zack and Ellen (Thys) Chosnyk; Her aunt Besty Gavigan: her special cousins, Linda Gavigan, Betty Gavigan, Ed Gavigan, and Philip Gavigan, and many more.
She is predeceased by her son, Roger Jansen, her parents, and brother Roger.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Inurnment private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Wounded Warrior Foundation appreciated.
