Martin Solis, Sr., 81, of Rockford, passed away at 7:45p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2008 in Lake Zurich, IL. Born on May 14, 1926 in Mexico; the son of Martin Solis and Policarpia Lopez. He married Julia Chapa in Mexico on July 6, 1958. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 35 years as a laborer. Martin was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Julia; children, Juanita (Ernesto) Ornelas, Martin Solis, III and Teresa (Carlos) Pedroza; grandchildren, Erica, Nikita and Veronica Solis, Juan, Claudia Ornelas, Danny and Gabriel Pedroza; siblings, Trinidad, Hilaria, Jose Maria, Jose Urbano, Evangelina and Estela; over 75 nieces and nephews and a best friend to many. Predeceased by daughter, Paula; brothers, Geromino and Rafael. Funeral service will be at 10:30a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2008 in Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 617 Lincoln Ave. with Father Ricardo Hernandez officiating. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Visitation to be held from 4-8pm with a Rosary recited at 7pm on Wednesday, May 7 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Rockford, IL 61103.
