Martin M. ""Marty"" Mullin, 52, Rockford, passed away at 11:06a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2009, in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born May 3, 1956, in Pittsburg, PA; son of Robert J. and Mary (Gharrity) Mullin. Marty was a member of Living Word Church of God. Marty had a fortitude borne of hardship endured from an early age. Run over by a car at the age of 3, it was uncertain that he would survive. No one would have guessed that Marty would grow to have a good, independent life through the generous help of his good friends at Milestone, Inc., and become such a contributing member of his church, family and work communities. Martys determination and dependability were demonstrated in his long career with Dasco through Growth Enterprises. Marty had an adventurous, joyful spirit that brought smiles and laughter to his friends, family, and those who took the time to know him. He loved to travel, to experience new things and see new places. He was very loyal, and loved to be with family and friends. Marty also had a calm, patient manner. His tolerance, and even kindness, in the face of a life full of adversity, demonstrated a very practical faith, a faith that worked.
