Martin J. “Marty” Cacciapaglia, 77, of Loves Park passed away Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Swedish American Hospital surrounded by his family. Born January 5, 1938, in Rockford, the son of Martin L. and Lillian (Gullotto) Cacciapaglia. Marty married Carol Bjork in 1954. “Carolepipe” was the love of his life which he wrote, “Everyone should have a Carole in their life.” He owned All American Building for many years. It was here that he was able to provide opportunities to those who might not otherwise had received them. Marty had a deep empathy for the underdogs of the world; always pulling for them to have a second chance and to win. Family was everything to Marty. Marty, as the patriarch of the family, loved cooking pasta every Sunday for everyone and lived for holidays, birthdays and special occasions spent with family. He enjoyed watching old movies, sports and even those reality shows, in his den. He also enjoyed traveling with Carole and their time spent in Florida. Marty taught us by word and by example that it is always more rewarding to give than it is to receive.
Survived by his wife, Carol; children, Vicki (John) Anderson, Marty (Debbie) Cacciapaglia Jr., Lori (Mark) Tallmadge, Jackie (Dave) Pool and John W. Cacciapaglia; grandchildren, Curt (Jessica), Ryan (Teresa), Joe (Mary), Jessica (Michael), Tyler, Audra and Hunter; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Bruce, Pat and John Cacciapaglia; sister, Kathy Rippentrop; aunt, Marie Gagliano; uncle, Frank Cacciapaglia; special brother-in-law, Nino Angileri; a special dog, Abby and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents, infant sister, Kathleen and special sisters-in-law, Sharon Angileri and Chris Cacciapaglia.
