Martin “Glenn” Funk, 75, of Rockford, IL passed away peacefully in his sleep at Fair Oaks Rehabilitation and Health Care Center on Sunday, August 28, 2022, after beating cancer twice. Glenn was born June 28, 1947, in Richmond, Virginia the son of Charles and Helen Funk. He worked at Bergstrom for many years and after retirement he worked for the Greater Auto Auction. Glenn was known for his hard work and dedication to both his job and his family. Glenn served as a minister in the Lutheran Church. He was a good Christian man that never judged and always did what needed to be done. Glenn enjoyed golfing and going to the boat. Most of all, Glenn loved spending time with his beloved wife, Mary and his family.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Sun hi (Steve) Schussler, John Schutz, Cathy (Chris) McKinney, Naomi (Tim) PadJen; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren + one on the way; siblings, John (Kathy) Funk, Tom (Cathy) Funk and Nancy Rosser; 9 nieces and nephews and many dear cousins. Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Helen and daughter, Cynthia Griffin.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Reverend Richard Meier, a dear friend of Glenn’s, will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a tribute yet to be established.
