Mark C. Conboy, 84
Rockford Mark C. Conboy died peacefully in his home Tuesday, December 16, 2008. Born August 2, 1924 in Chicago, the son of Mark and Lillian Conboy. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during WWII. MarriedElizabeth Betty Hafey on August 14, 1948 at the Cathedral of St. Peter inRockford. This year they celebrated their 60 th wedding anniversary with friends and family. Mark worked at Barber Colman Company Rock Site for 30 years. He retired in 1989. An avid Gardener, after retiring he worked for Didier Greenhouses part-time; pruned the roses at Sinnissippi Gardens for the Rockford Mens Garden Club and planted his own yearly flower and vegetable garden at his home. Marks other interests were playing bridge and cribbage. He loved traveling the U.S. andEurope with Betty. Mark and Betty were former members of St. Patricks Catholic Church. They have been members of St. Bernadette Catholic Church for the past 39 years.
Mark is survived by wife Betty; sons, Thomas Conboy of Roscoe, Jim (Cindy) Conboy of Rockford; daughter, Mary (Ritchie) of Machesney Park; grandchildren; Thomas Hollister, Teresa (Dr. Jerob) Leaper, Courtney Conboy, Christopher (Sarah) Conboy and Kelsey Conboy; great-grandchildren, Dylan Janczak and Elizabeth Dawn Conboy. Sister-in-law, Kathryn French ofRockford.
