Marjorie Marie Downey

Marjorie Marie Downey, 93, of Rockford passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2012 in Medina Nursing Center in Durand.nbsp; She was born March 21, 1918 to William and Rose Morey in Livingston, Wisconsin.nbsp; After graduating from Mineral Point High School, she married John Downey on November 25, 1936 in Freeport, Illinois.nbsp; John predeceased her in March of 1975.nbsp; Marjorie worked for National Lock and then GC Electronics for 25 years before she retired. A member of St Patrick Church since 1947, she volunteered at Rockford Memorial Hospital as a Pink Lady until she lost her sight at age 70. She was also a past member of St Pats Silver Shamrocks. She loved traveling and visited 44 of 51 states. Marjorie also loved the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs.

nbsp;Survivors include her daughters, Jaquelyn Waskiewicz of Rockford, Patricia (Jody) Strickland of Wildwood, Florida and Madeline Ash of Loves Park; son, Gerald Downey of Sterling Heights, MI; sister, Helen Stock of Dubuque, IA; 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 5 greatgreat grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, her nbsp;husband, John F. Downey, son, John W. Downey, brothers, William Morey and Henry Morey, sister, Florence Rasmussen, granddaughter, Sandra Schoenhagel and sonsinlaw, Richard Waskiewicz and Jerry Ash.nbsp;

A Funeral Mass will be at 10am on Saturday, January 21 in St. Bridget Catholic Church.nbsp; nbsp;Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.nbsp; Visitation is at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday in the church.nbsp; Arrangements completed by Fitzgerald Funeral Home 3910 North Riverside.nbsp;
