Marjorie L. Hobbs, 74 of Normal, IL passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022.
Marjorie was born in Rockford, IL on June 16, 1947, daughter of Roy and Helen (Garry) Almond. She graduated from Boylan Central Catholic High School, Class of 1965. Marjorie married Mark L. Hobbs on October 13, 1973.
Marjorie lived in Rockford most of her life, working as a legal secretary for over 30 years before moving to Normal after her retirement. She was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Rockford and later attended Epiphany Catholic Church in Normal. As the youngest of four children, she was able to enjoy her nieces and nephews early in life and watch them grow up, get married and have their own children. She found great joy in spending time with her family, planning and hosting gatherings around the holidays and shopping. She was always opening her home to family, friends, and friends of family – all were welcome and would leave well fed and with laughter in their hearts.
She was a strong supporter and champion of her sons, cheering loudly at sporting events and celebrating successes on and off the field. Her love of family multiplied with the birth of her four grandchildren, providing opportunities for more family gatherings and even more shopping.
Those left to honor Marjorie’s memory include her children, Jeffrey (Sarah) Hobbs of Normal, IL and Andrew (Bridget) Hobbs of Western Springs, IL; grandchildren, Reagan, Owen, Katherine and Connor; siblings, Mary Lindstrand, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; brothers Thomas and James; husband, Mark and daughter, Elizabeth.
