Marjorie Bargren

Marjorie Bargren, 94 of Marietta, GA and formerly of Rockford died on December 8, 2013 with her daughter Cindy by her side. Born May 30, 1919 in Rockford , the daughter of Simon and Ellen Carlson and lived most of her life here until 2005 at which time she moved to GA to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Graduated from Rockford High School class of 1937 and married William Bargren on January 24, 1942. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1978. Marjorie worked as a legal secretary for the law firm of Charles H. Davis and Charles S. Thomas for 10 years. A member of Salem Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed and married. Served as Sunday School Teacher for many years, served on Church Council, a member of the ELCW, the Deborah Circle and served as a youth leader with her husband Bill, was a wedding consultant, coordinator of several pictorial church directories and member of the 3M's. She was very proud of her Swedish heritage and was a member of the Brahe Lodge. Survivors include her children, Charlotte Hager of Rockford and Cindy (John) Barrett of Marietta, GA; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Mike) Odling; great grandchildren, Ethan and Ava Odling of Rockford and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Salem Lutheran Church, 1629 S. 6th St. at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bill Dahlberg officiating. Visitation Friday, December 13 from 5-7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. and continues on Saturday at church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be held at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church.
