Marion S. Futrell

Marion S. Futrell, 64, Rockford, died at 3:07 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011 in Amberwood Care Center. Born June 12, 1946 in Corning, Arkansas, son of Shelton and Elizabeth Ladyman Futrell. He graduated in 1964 with the first graduating class of Guilford High School and attended Rock Valley College. Formerly employed at J.L. Clark. He loved sports and participated in baseball and basketball. He also loved racing cars at the Byron Drag Strip and riding his motorcycles. Survivors include his sons, Philip (Beth) Futrell and Bob (Robyn) Futrell; brother, Michael (Teresa) Futrell; grandchildren, Philip, Samantha, Thomas, Zachary and Faith; former wife and mother of his children, Patricia Rappa ; nieces and a nephew. Predeceased by his parents.Funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2011 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Rev. Randy Young officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 10 a.m. until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
