Marion H. Jansen

Marion H. "Mike" Jansen, 78 of Rockford, died Sunday, October 4, 2009 at OSF St. Anthony Hospital. Born Sept. 3, 1931 in Highland, WI, son of Gerhard and Helen (Ross) Jansen. Graduate of Ithaca High School, Ithaca, WI. Married JoAnn Coleman on Aug. 28, 1954 in Whitewater, WI, she preceded him in death in 1983. Mike then married Virginia J. (Pernacciaro) Musa on Dec. 6, 1986 in Rockford. He worked for 48 years as a millwright and welder for General Motors, retiring in 2000. A devoted member of St. Rita Catholic Church where he was head usher for several years. A 3 rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Muldoon Council 470, and a 4 th degree member of the General Assembly 190 and was a volunteer for the St. Ritas council bakery run. Mike was also a womans softball coach for over 26 years. He was a generous, caring and loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all. Survivors include his loving wife, Virginia; children, Linda (John) Stafford, Robert (Julie) Jansen, Barb (Todd) Moore, Nancy (Tony) Lukas, Jane (Kevin) Mickelson, Sue (Gary) Belch, Louis (Rebecca) Musa and Anna Maria (Dave) Johnson; 16 grandchildren; brothers, Bun, Jerry, Don and Joe; sisters, Joan, Teresa, Pat, Mary and Helen and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, JoAnn; sisters, Dorothy, Rosella and brother, William. Funeral Mass Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church. Visitation Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a Rosary to be recited at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday in church from 10 to 10:45. Interment will be held at 3:30 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Janesville, WI. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
