Marion A. Ackerman

Marion A. Ackerman, 85 of Freeport, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009. Born on a  farm near German Valley on Aug. 16, 1923, son of Pearl (Voss) and Bernard Ackerman . On May 6, 1945, he married his loving wife of 64 years, Garnet Conell from Thayer, NE. They farmed various farms and then moved to their own farm 43 years ago. He enjoyed farming and raising calves and also took time to enjoy his family and flowers. Survivors include his wife, Garnet, children, Larry (Marsha) Ackerman of Rockford, and Linda (Jim) Graeper of Racine, WI; three grandchildren, Mark (Carol) Ackerman, Amy (David) Wisniewski and Jennifer (Tony) Maltry; five great grandchildren, Jacob, Allison, Alexandra, Paige and Sarah; brother, Allan (Phyllis) Ackerman of Freeport, sister Bernice Kampen; nephew, Dwayne Ackerman; niece, Mary Ann Ackerman; and special cousin, Norma Jean Davis. Cremation rites accorded at his request with private services. Inurnment to be held in Grandview Cemetery at a later date. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family.
