Marilyn M. Magnuson, 83, of Rockford passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, October 2, 2015. She was born on May 17, 1932 to Milton and Margaret (Dyer) Saaf in Rockford, Illinois. In 1952, she married the love of her life, Leonard Magnuson. She worked in administration at Swedish American Hospital for many years. Marilyn was an active member at the women’s guild at Holy Family and a devoted volunteer for the Special Olympics.
She is survived by her children Linda (Carlo) Matranga of Winnebago, Julie Kuehl of Roscoe, David (Francine) Magnuson and Jeffrey Magnuson of Rockford; her grandchildren Nicole (Brian) Hayes of Huntley, Michael (Rachel) Matranga of Winnebago, Joshua Magnuson of Rockford, Kate White of Montana, Jaryd (Alex) Magnuson of Rockford, Michael Magnuson of Rockford, Matt, Adam, and Brad Kuehl of Roscoe; her great grandchildren Kinsey and Mia Hayes; sister in-laws Shirley, Pat, and Annabelle; cousin Arnie (Irene) Dyer; and lifelong dear friend Geri Long.
Predeceased by her husband, Leonard; her parents; and her sister, Karen.
Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at St. James Catholic Church, 428 N. Second Street, Rockford. A visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Inurnment Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. James Catholic Church appreciated. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel assisting the family.
