Marilyn Krueger, nee Prost, age 94, formerly of Elmhurst, IL, entered eternal life on April 27, 2022. She was born in Chicago to Bernard “Barney” and Frances (Redmond) Prost on April 18, 1928 and was raised in Cicero, IL. She graduated from Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic School and J. Sterling Morton High School in Cicero and entered the work force, including jobs at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, a grocery store in Cicero, the emergency room admitting office at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital (serving as the shift supervisor during a tenure of 25 years there) and as office managers for her husband’s towing service, J & M Towing, and for the Old Town Wedding Chapel in Bloomingdale, IL. Her work as a cashier at a grocery store led to meeting her husband of almost 59 years, John J. Krueger, Jr. They were married on May 20, 1950 and raised six children in their home in Elmhurst, and they were longtime parishioners at Visitation Catholic Church. Marilyn spent many cherished times boating on Channel Lake in Antioch, IL and on the beach in New Smyrna Beach, FL, and loved spending time with family members more than anything, whether at the lake, by the beach, hosting family meals or coffee chats in her home or elsewhere.
Marilyn was the beloved wife of the late John J. Krueger Jr.; loving daughter of the late Bernard and Frances (Redmond) Prost; treasured mother of Kathleen, John III (Mary Anne), Susan, Diane, Richard (Donna) and Jane; proud grandmother to ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; dear sister of Nancy (the late Floyd) Barnum, Jack (Suzanne) Prost and Mary Beatrice (the late Kevin) Sheehan and the late Virginia (the late Glen) Kenworthy, the late Patricia (George) Krueger, the late Bud (the late Betty), the late Jimmy; and fond aunt to many. She will be remembered at Visitation Church at an upcoming date, and interment will be private.
