Marilyn Gustafson

Marilyn (Mallon) Gustafson, 79, of Rockford died Monday, May 22, 2017; at home with loved ones at her side. She was born in Rockford on September 16, 1937. Marilyn married John Mallon Jr., on May 18, 1957, before his passing in 1978. Marilyn went on to marry Curtis Gustafson on October 2, 1981; and they spent the last 35 years together. She worked as the cafeteria manager at Rockford East High from 1975 to 1981, and opened the Alpine Donut Mill in 1982. Marilyn loved her family dearly, especially all of her grandchildren. She and her husband Curt, enjoyed traveling together, and Marilyn always lived every day to the fullest.

She is survived by her husband, Curtis Gustafson; children, William (Valerie) Mallon, Michele (Scot) Koif, Thomas (Patti) Gustafson, Julie (Eric) Johnson; grandchildren, Michael Mallon, Jonathon Mallon, Matthew Mallon, Megan Koif, Steven Koif, Maddie Gustafson.
Marilyn is predeceased by her husband, John Mallon, Jr.; and her mother, Mildred McEntee Lutzow.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday May 28, 2017; at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL, 61108; with a visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
