Marilyn A. (Puffer) Moore 93 of Rockford passed away Wednesday July 22 in Presence St. Anne’s Nursing Home. She was born April 19, 1922 in Rockford, the daughter of Robert and Grace (Newman) Puffer. She graduated from East high School, class of 1941. She married Lewis J. Moore on April 12, 1947 he predeceased her in 2012. She worked at Northern Illinois Gas Company, Central Electric Company and Rockford Screw Products. Member of Riverside Community Church. Marilyn was a USO Worker selling bonds and stamps during WWII. Member of the Intermediate Women’s Club, Eastern Star, Loves Park Chapter. She enjoyed word puzzles and was known as the Hallmark Lady, she sent cards to everyone she knew on their birthdays. From a young age, music was important in her life, from singing in the choir, to watching live music at St Anne’s.
Survivors include her Sister, Sally Dewitt. Nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Alan) Soderberg, Paul (Vickie) Dewitt and Elaine (Conrad) Thornton. Great nieces and nephews, Randy and Ryan (Kim) Soderberg, Morgan and Christopher Barrickman and Michael (Pat) Thornton. Plus many great great nieces and nephews. Best friend, Mary Kay (Jim) Seymour. Predeceased by her parents. Husband, Lewis. Nephew and nieces, Peter (Karen) Cecchinelli, Carol Barrickman and Bradley Thornton. Special thanks to the staff at Presence St Anne’s.
Funeral service at 11am Friday July 24, 2015 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home 1860 S. Mulford Road. Burial in Arlington Cemetery. Visitation from10am until time of service Friday in the funeral home.
