The family moved to Rockford, IL where she grew up. She attended West High School and participated in the Rockford Drum and Bugle Core. She worked in the lamp division as an inside sales/office manager. She retired in 1980 at age 58 and returned to Rockford, IL. The love of her life is her poodle named Sadie Ann. Marilyn was a talented knitter and had a passion for bargain shopping. She loved her home, wildlife, and garden. She kissed her gardener who was her nephew Gary Anderson. Her favorite pal for storytelling and Lino's pizza night was her great nephew Jason Anderson. Her friend and crafting buddy was her niece in-law Char Anderson.
Thanks to her neighbor Patty Kenally, who provided meals and company, and was the one to notify the family of the change in her schedule. Thanks to her friend Mike Maloney, who taught her the game of football, and his wife Hazel she became a huge Green Bay Packer backer. They all were friends for life. Her niece Karen and Gary Lafond were also huge fans of the Packers and this was their common ground although they reside in Florida. Thanks also to the ICU and the palliative care unit at OSF. Also to the Chaplin Richard F. Gerdeman who stood beside us while her soul left the body to be with God above.
