Marie T. Mccarthy

Marie T. McCarthy, 88, of Rockford, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Presence St Anne Center. Born April 15, 1928 in Chicago, the daughter of Edward W. & Marie C. (Kurzweil) Hesse. Graduated from St. Augustine’s High school, class of 1946. She married Emmett W. McCarthy in Chicago, on October 30, 1948. Emmett predeceased her on April 8, 1996. Served as past president of the Marist High School Mother’s Club in Chicago from 1967-1968. Member of St. Andrews Apostle Church, Romeoville, IL. Prior to moving to Rockford she was part of the Carillon Adult Community for eleven years, where she became a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed golfing, playing bunko, bingo, and traveling to Europe with Emmett and very special friends Richard & Pat Trapp. In addition, spending many weekends’ getaways at their Michigan home.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of St. Annes Center, Siena on Brendenwood, and Morning Star Village for all the care and support.
Survivors include daughters Colette (Tom) Geen, Margaret “Peggie” (David) Elam and Marianne (Craig) Minnis; daughter in-law, Cindy Dion McCarthy; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Sammy), Brooke (Ken), Tyler, Tara (Ryan), Tommy (Gina), Michael (Olivia), Mark, and Andrew, eight great granddaughters and two great grandson on the way; sister Margaret “Marge” (Paul) Gambla; and numerous nephews and nieces. Predeceased by parents, husband, son, Edward William McCarthy.
