Marie L. Swanson

Marie L. Swanson, 95, of Rockford passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018. Born July 19, 1923, in Rockford, the daughter of Sam and Margaret (DiGiovanni) Armato. Marie married Carl “Ray” Swanson; he preceded her in death in 1967. Marie worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company for 40 years. Marie loved to cook and was an avid shopper. She stayed active in the Pioneers and various ladies groups. Marie enjoyed watching sports. Above all, she adored her family, especially her grandson and 2 great-grandsons. The Swanson Family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice Care of America, for the excellent care they provided to Marie.
Lovingly survived by her daughter, Carla (Douglas) Vanblaricom Spears; grandson, Aaron (Darcy) Vanblaricom; great-grandsons, Zachary and Blake; numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Cathy Iverson. Also predeceased by her sibilings, Catherine Bartelli, Alex Armato, Angelina Patch, Mary Bergquist and Joseph Armato.
